Child

“At Project RED, we don't rest until every child is safe.”

While our first objective is to facilitate healthy family environments for each child and lasting change for families, many times, the reality of each family situation is unsafe for children.

When we encounter these alarming situations, we activate our Child Advocacy team, who meets with judges and government workers as we attempt to rescue each child. We file reports with authorities and conduct investigative field visits and interviews, providing helpful information for our government partners as they make decisions regarding long-term placement for children.

We have been advocating for change in child welfare policies in El Salvador for many years, and as the new law begins implementation in 2023, we are hopeful for positive changes!

Our team advocates for each child who continues to suffer abuse and neglect, in hopes that he or she might eventually live in a safe and loving family environment. As we encounter these cases, our team of professionals meets with judges and government workers as we attempt to improve the living situation for each child, while simultaneously advocating for change in child welfare policies in El Salvador.

We file reports with authorities and conduct investigative field visits and interviews, providing helpful information for our government partners as they make decisions regarding long-term placement for children.

Our Goal

We strive to form healthy relationships and successful partnerships with the government entities with whom we work. As a result of the 2019 presidential election, new leaders have recently been assigned to child welfare leadership roles, and we are thankful to be developing healthy and positive relationships with these leaders. Our hope is to share our experiences at Project RED and impact policy reform as active participants.

Hope for

Carmen

Carmen had recently left the orphanage to live with her mother when we first met her. Our case workers worked with the family to help with what we could, knowing that the situation wasn’t ideal. When Carmen ended up in the hospital as a result of physical abuse, our team tirelessly advocated with judges for Carmen’s safety. Had it not been for these efforts, Carmen would have eventually been sent back to her abusive home. Instead, Carmen is now ready to be adopted and is getting the care she needs. Thank you for helping us to rescue children like Carmen, one by one. We are so very thankful!
